Post-Flight Inspections and Maintenance
Cleaning
Makesurethebatteryisnotconnectedbeforecleaning.Removedustanddebriswithasoftbrush
oradry,lint-freecloth.
Bearings
Replacebearingswhentheybecomenotchy(stickyinplaceswhenturning)ordraggy.
Wiring
Makesurethewiringdoesnotblockmovingparts.Replacedamagedwiringandlooseconnectors.
Fasteners
Makesuretherearenoloosescrews,otherfastenersorconnectors.Donotover-tightenmetal
screwsinplasticparts.Tightenscrewssothepartsarematedtogether,thenturnscrewonly1/8th
ofaturnmore.
Propellers
Makesurethereisnodamagetothepropellerorotherpartsthatmoveathighspeed.
Damagetothesepartsincludescracks,burrs,chipsorscratches.Replacedamagedparts
beforeying.
Continuemakingminortrimadjustmentsuntilthemachinehoversatalowaltitudewithverylittledriftingand
directionalcontrolinput.IfthemQXisyourrstQuad-Copter-typemodel,seekthehelpofanexperiencedpilotto
trimthemodelforyoubeforemakingyourrstight.
• WithyourmQXproperlytrimmedandmaintainingastablelow-levelhover,practiceusingtherudder,elevator
andaileroncontrolstofamiliarizeyourselfwiththemachine’sresponsestocontrolinputs.Remembertokeep
thecontrolinputsasminimalaspossible.
• Whencomfortablewithlow-levelhovering,youcantransitiontohoveringandyingthemQXathigheralti-
tudesofthreetofourfeet.Atthesehigheraltitudes,youwillbecomecomfortablewiththeightcharacteris-
ticsoftheaircraft.
• Don’tbeafraidtosetthemQXdownonthegroundquicklybyloweringthethrottlewhenapproachingwalls
orotherobstaclestohelppreventpropellerstrikes.
CAUTION:AlwaysythemQXwithyourbacktothesuntopreventlossofightcontrol.
